National Communication Museum is a unique Melbourne experience, where visitors are invited to consider everyday items that have become essential to our lives in a new light. NCM invites visitors to contemplate new and old technology, interact with the items on display and explore old communication concepts as well as look toward the future of communication technology.

NCM is two levels of informative displays with the first level hosting exhibitions on new and evolving technology and concepts, and the second level reminiscent of how far technology has come, displaying the devices we all know and have loved.

The National Communication Museum (NCM) is a brand-new museum in Hawthorn, based in a historic 1930s exchange building, parts of which are still operational, on the lands of the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people.

Situated adjacent to Swinburne University in an emerging STEAM precinct and designed by award winning architects Carr design, NCM's visitors will explore the power of communication and the technologies that enable the creation and transformation of communities.

Parking is available nearby on Burwood Road, Glenferrie Road, and at the nearby Hawthorn Arts Centre.

Public Transport
The museum is a five minute walk from Glenferrie Station.
Tram route 16 stops at the corner of Burwood Road and Glenferrie Road, a two minute walk from the museum.

NCM is committed to accessibility. The building and displays are designed to be inclusive, with features like audio loops, Auslan interpretation, captions, and a wheelchair lift.
